1985 2.8 V-6 Camaro

I have a 1985 2.8 V-6 Camaro. Not sure exactly what its suppose to be(Berlinetta, iroc, z/28, etc...). butbut i had taken the starter off and made sure all the battery connections and grounds were good. I got it started and it idled high, even if the choke was on it seemed too high. but after a few minutes the rpms went down and it wanted to cut out, and i had to have my foot steady on the gass around half way down. now today, i cant even get it started, but it turns over really strong. starting it a seond time had to keep tapping the gas and it wouldn't rev up til a few seconds after i had tapped the gas. any ideas? have new wires, cap, and rotor.

I had a 2.8 FI with sorta the same problem. It ended up being the fuel pump.

Re: 1985 2.8 V-6 Camaro

Thanks for the help. This Camaro has been puzzling me for the last seven years. I had another little problem that doesn't bother me as much as that. When I got it started the first time, after it shut off, I had oil leaking from both sides, draining off the driver side of the transmission, and dripping onto the exhaust pipe of the passenger side. I started it when i had to keep tapping the gas and there was no oil leaking.
