need help car wont start!!

ok so my 91 firebird 305 tbi, would not crank so i thought it was the starter enable relay. which i bypassed and now it cranks but it wont start its getting spark but the fuel injectors are not spraying any fuel. i do hear the fuel pump running as well.

i have gotten to start by spraying ether in to the throtle body but it would take a while for it to fire and when it does fire i have to keep hitting the throtle in order to keep it from killing itself. it seems that it is not getting enough fuel. the rpms wont get any higher then 3000 no matter how much i hit the gas , if i hold the pedal down, keep it in one place, or let go completly it will stal. it did back fire through the throtle body once.

it has a new(or at least one year old) starter, alternator, ignition lock cylinder, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, coil, battery, fuses are all good, and there is not a security light flashing. i did test the neutral safety switch and it turned out to be ok.

i really have no idea what it could be any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: need help car wont start!!

i had the same problem i spent weeks trying to figure out the problem. does your key have a chip in it? it sounds like the vatts system is the problem. the wires on my key switch broke so it wouldnt disable the secutity system. pull the wheel and look at the key switch.

no i already fixed that problem, i don't have my security light on so i don't think it has to do with the VATS

the security light should come on when you turn the key if not its vatts. sometimes the chips just go bad

ok so when i turn the key the light goes on but it then turns off which should mean that the VATS works and that it is not my key as well. i also tried it with my spare key which i never use. both keys are only 2 months old cause i had to replace the lock cylinder.

Re: need help car wont start!!

still need help on getting this car running again.

I took an ECM out of a running firebird with same engine and everything but it still would not run. i also replaced the ignition control module, still no start.

I did notice that the fuel injectors are only spraying when i turn the key to try and start it, hit the gas down, and when it stalls. in other words if i'm not hitting the gas it wont stay running or spray fuel but if i hold the gas in one place it will die as well.
