Gas smell on start up
Maybe my inexperience is showing really bad here but I'm at a loss as to what is causing this. Any help is appreciated. When I first start my car after it has been sitting for around an hour I can smell gas coming from the vents. The gas smell is mixed in with an exhaust smell too. What do I need to check here, what could be causing this? Once the car is running I don't smell gas anymore. I'm not going to rule out bad injectors, but what else would cause this?
Maybe this is related, maybe it isn't, but also after running for a bit when I come to a stoplight the RPMs drop to around 700 to 500 and the oil guage dips down to just above the 1/4 mark (there is also a vibration). I usually smell exhaust at this time as well, though not with the gas smell. I've removed the AIR system and smog pump in the past since the catalytic converters were removed well before I ever got the car.
Any ideas?

Re: Gas smell on start up
I completely forgot to list the car having the problem. Car is a 1992 Firebird GTA, 5.7 350 TPI. If I had a carb I'd start looking there but I don't..
