Voltmeter and oil pressure?

Voltmeter and oil pressure?

I was driving my car around bout a week ago and the voltmeter started randomly going from very high to very low and it did this for a the whole day and when i drove it at night when it dipped low my subs would cut out and my lights would dim, so i cleaned the connection to the alternator and it seemed like it was fixed. Until about a two days ago now about 5 minutes after driving it(long enough for it to get warmed up) ever time it starts to slowly drop to about 10 and stays there. Another thing the oil pressure gauge has always read all the way toped out(up past 60) from the minute i start it to the when i cut it off (i don't know why) but latey when after the same five minutes of driving the oil pressure sinks down when i take my foot off the gas. The car also seems like its lost some power too, i know these problems sound unrelated (to me at least) but its really getting on my nerves . Any one have any thoughts?

Your oil gage or sender has a problem therefore reads high.

An open ground in the gage circuit is a common problem.

Your oil gage is now voltage dependant.

That’s why it varies with voltage.

Your alternator sounds like it has become defective.

Test it / replace it.

thanks, yeah it must be somethin electrical it seems like its stopped and i just checked a few connections and tightened some things, and i'll check out about the oil pressure gage thanks, and thankfully the alternator looked good when i checked it. I want a new gage cluster anyway the tach and the temp gage are messed up so i guess the oil pressure gage is too
