oil filter upgrade?

I believe I have discovered a helpful upgrade to my oil filter. Someone please let me know if this has already been discovered. I found my filter for my car to be a small filter like PF 454. A smaller one than that was installed on it when I got it. But I have a PF 5, LARGER one, that seems to be a lot larger, therefore better, right? Can I get some input on this idea? Is this helpful much?

I haven't used one of those short filters for years.

Re: oil filter upgrade?

The PF454 is good for tight header clearance. I personally will put as big a filter on as I can. The PF 1218 have been sized down a bit also.

Re: oil filter upgrade?

If you have the access room, use a big filter. Not all filters are designed the same. Even though they may have the same external size, the type and amount of filter material inside can greatly differ. I personally would not use a Fram filter on anything I own even if the filters were free.

I run a System 1 filter. It's bigger than a typical filter but it's a reusable filter. A couple of times a year I pull it and take it apart for cleaning and inspection.

system 1? Is that a Brand, or a Model from a Brand? Where can I find one?

Re: oil filter upgrade?

It's expensive but it's the last oil filter you'll ever buy.
