build/pick my engine!
alright, heres the deal. I have a spun rod bearing in my 305 TPI, T-5, 3:73 gears. I just purchased 22/lb injectors, hooker headers(shorty, 1 5/8"). I plan to put a reman 350tpi in its place(oil pan-heads). I have approximately $1000 (after $1500 engine) to spend on goodies or anything else needed for the swap. Im looking for the best performance for the money. I could wait a couple of months and have an extra $700 for the project but I really want my car back
.
Open to all suggestions, as I dont want 2 be sry.
I also have previously purchased and wanting the next engine to be compatible with
1.6 roller rockers (tall valve covers)
Gear drive (yea, i know ur opinions on that) lol

Re: build/pick my engine!
The heads, camshaft, intake base, and runners are generally considered to be the bottlenecks after the exhaust, and in that order.
What are you considering and looking at as far as options?

I'd put the restrictive order as runners, base, cam, exhaust, heads, for a 350 TPI.
Runners and base can be solved with a Holley/Weiand Stealth Ram. Cam, obvious. Exhaust, headers is a good start, don't stop there. Heads - either port them, or check out what guys have done on the TPI forum for good-running engines.

Re: build/pick my engine!
I would blow your 1700 like this:
SLP runners
Long tube headers (1 5/8 primaries) with new y-pipe
Port work done to your heads and lower intake manifold
Any extra money (Not likely) would be spent on the cam, as it is very important!
But thats just me
