EGR Solenoid

So I broke one of the plastic vacuum hose pegs clean off my egr solenoid . . . am I pretty much high and dry for like $80? Most places don't even sell the egr solenoid, thats the best i could find.

anyone know of any way to either adapt the existing solenoid (i dunno, drill out the hole and put in a new hose barb or small pipe of some sort) or adapt a solenoid from something else to fulfill the same role? Paying $80 for a piece of plastic is ludicrous!

Re: EGR Solenoid

Well if your really desperate and willing to just take a chance assumeing you still have the other piece is take some 2 part plastic epoxy and find a drill bit exactly the same inside diameter as the vaccum port. Then slide the round end of the drill bit down the broken piece of the EGR solenoid and into the solenoid itself. Put a liberal amount glue on the end of the broken port and reattach it to the solenoid. The drill bit will not only keep the Broken port lined up but will also in theory keep the glue out of the solenoid and the port itself if you chose the right size. Its also important if you want to get the drill bit back out though that you twist it while the glue dries so it isnt glued to the EGR solenoid as well. Might work for ya unless someone else has a better idea but on the bright side what do you have to lose?

Re: EGR Solenoid

great thinking, i just hope there is enough wall thickness on the barb for the glue to hold

Re: EGR Solenoid

well it turns out mine was salvageable, although the drillbit gluing didn't work.

I've got an extra used solenoid that i got to replace mine, i'll get that to you at my cost (probably around $20 with shipping) if you're interested. As far as new goes, i dunno. parts america has a few listed for online order around $90 but im not sure they're even in stock.

if you are interested send a pic of the connector on yours to make sure its the right fit eg.example(a)gmail.com
