89 Iroc-Z 350 Wont Crank

My car and I have a special bond (i love it, it hates me). I bought it about 2 years ago, and it needed an engine rebuild. Got that rebuilt and have problems ever since. I guess it wasn't a good idea to get my engine rebuilt at a transmission place, but you live and you learn. Anyway, aside from my various other problems with the car (rough idling, surging, overheating every time i sit for too long at a light) the car at least ran. Last July I was on my way to my car to head to work, turned the key. Nothing. Would not crank, try to crank, make a noise, nothing... The car had plenty of battery and the gauges worked, just no desire to start. So i left it in the driveway, and took another car. I came home on my lunch, and the camaro fired right up. Apparently sitting in the driveway for 3 hours was enough for it to feel like starting.

About 3 weeks later I was coming out to my car for lunch at work (it had started fine every single start since my first incident, and had gotten me to work just fine) and it refused to start again, same symptoms. I was hoping by time I got out of work (four more hours, the car would start) It didn't. I tried starting it on and off for 2 weeks while it sat at my work parking lot. The day I had paid a friend to bring his trailer to the lot to tow my car to my mechanic, i said, what the hell, lets try and start the car. Of course after 2 weeks of refusing to even try to start, the day I got the trailer there, it started.

I enjoyed my car for about another month last summer before it died once more in my driveway. (by died i mean, it didn't actually die while running, it just refused to start one day) And in my driveway it sat all winter. Ive gone out there, charged the battery several times, tried starting it again. It is done for good this time. Whatever was failing has entirely failed. It needs to be fixed. I thought since I love this forum, before I pay for the tow again to my mechanic, maybe someone had a quick idea of something I could check myself. My mechanic did come on site to my car when it was stuck in the parking lot, ran some tests. He told me that my fuel injectors had power, they just weren't receiving the sender signal to start the car.

Any responses and or ideas are appreciated. Thanks guys.

if it wont crank I wouldn't be looking at fuel injectors. I'd be looking at the starter, solenoid, and ignition wiring.

well, if it wasn't apparent from my post, I don't know the greatest amount about engine work. haha. The only reason why I mentioned the injectors, is because thats what I remember him mentioning as he was going through my engine bay. Thanks for the reply
