Need some advice - PS pump problem

I am having major problems with my power steering, the flow from the ps pump is WAY too high.

The engine was custom built by previous owner and he told me they took all the pulleys,ps pump and etc. from an LT1 equipped vette, It is a reverse rotation ps pump driven by the flat side of the serpentine belt.

The problem is that its flowing way more than needed for the steering box and it is aerating the fluid in the reservoir, the steering box is new and the ps pump is new so I guess there has to be a problem using the ps pump from a corvette LT1 setup. I think that it has to do with corvettes using rack/pinion setup for steering and that the pump in unmodified form does not work well with a steering box. So what can I do fix this? I have spent countless hours trying to get a reservoir that can keep up with the PS pump flow without aerating the fluid, but I gave up yesterday and decided to cure the root of the problem instead. The steering is a bit on the light side too so lower pressure would be good as well.

Any ideas?

Did you bleed it properly when you installed it? It's pretty hard for it to cavitate (suck air) if everything is under oil. Once they foam up, it can be tough to get all the air out.

I haven't bleed the system with the wheels in the air with no load lock to lock, but I have turned lock to lock downhill with engine off several times. I could always try to jack up the car and do the "proper" bleed. But my main concern is that the pump puts out so much flow and I think that is causing the aeration, if i look in the reservoir when the running at idle it is like a maelstrom. I could take a video of it just to show how it looks like.

I bet you still have air in it. Take off the return line and run a couple quarts through it. I've been there. Once you get foam it's very hard to get it out.

Fill the reservoir with the motor running. I had a similar problem with aeration. I had filled the reservoir with the motor off but found it would take more fluid if filled while running. Stopped the aeration problem completely.
