91 Firebird Won't start.
i am new to the F-Bodies and just bought a 1991 Firebird 5.0 V8 (305) [180,000 miles-1700$] and it was idling yesterday. i turn it off, vacuum it out, and then 3 hours later, it cranks but won't turn over. new dist. cap, rotor, plugs and wires. checked the fuel relay and its working. ruled out the security too. battery is strong. put a little gas into throttle body and still does the same thing. i don't know what could be if it was running fine earlier that day. please help me out with suggestions.. or if anyone has had similar problems with their 305. thanks!

Welcome to TGO
Check for spark. Remove #1 Cylinder spark plug wire - install spark plug tester ~ available for $6 from most stores. Have a helper crank engine over while observing tester. Trace it from there.

From where RFmaster left off, you might have a bad coil. But do what he said first. Then check all the spark plug wires and go from there. If no spark from any of the wires, then you may need a coil.

Re: 91 Firebird Won't start.
okay. i will go to Auto zone today and pick up a Tester. thanks for the help and ill let you all know what i find out. i looked at the coil yesterday, think its the original one still so it might be that. had to replace plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor already. could it possibly be a timing thing? the idiot that had it before thought it was a V6.(don't ask) so two of the cylinders weren't even firing. once again thanks for the help.
