"Is this cam any good" Part II...better pics

Sorry, I've never done anything like this before and I don't know what's considered "catastrophic" when it comes to cam bearing surfaces. It's got these surface scuffs and a little nick or two. Other that what you see the surfaces are seem fine, very flat.

It's a Crane 2032. It's going in a TBI LO5 w/ L98 heads. I bought it used. These pictures *REALLY* bring out the imperfections...

Is it just a matter of making sure there are no 'burrs' that are higher than the bearing surface itself?

Personally i dont like the looks of it for 2 reasons. One any kinda gouge or scuff in the surface like that tends to make me concerned that it may damage the bearing which causes metal fileings that cause more damage. Next i cant really tell from the pic but i see a wear pattern that looks kinda on the heavy side. It almost looks discolored like it was run without oil at some point in the past. Now again its hard to tell these things from a picture as a big part of it is the diameter to make sure the clearances are in check. My oppinion though is thati would think long and hard befor useing it.

I agree. and not just because it gives you a good excuse to get a better cam.
