cam ate up a lifter, what now?

My cam ate up the intake lifter on cyl 1. The plate that holds down the lifter guide plate bent and my lifter turned sideways and got eaten up. I was able to pull the lifter out and used a magnetic pen to pull out the roller portion of the lifter. What are the odds that I'll have to replace my cam and what can i do to get the metal out of my motor w/o having to put the motor out again.
