Oil Issue on my firebird.
My firebird is an 3.8 (1996) when i first start my car the oil light will come on, so i turn my car off and it goes off. Okay, So after the car is running for about 10 to 20 minutes you can start smelling oil burning. Well i can turn my car off and the smell will go away and doesn't come back until the next time i go to start my car (the next day). I am not sure if its a value or something. Can someone help me? Is the oil plesure bad? Car runs fine doesn't have any knocks or anything. So i don't understand. Theres no oil leaks under the car. So i an confused.
Help would be awesome.
Thanks

Re: Oil Issue on my firebird.
Where to start? I'll assume you've been checking the oil level on the dipstick alot more often recently, and I'll assume it hasn't dropped much if any. So, when you first start your engine, it should take a few seconds to build up to normal oil pressure at the sensor. Then the light should go out. As far as smelling oil burning, the most likely culprit is a valve cover leak letting oil seep onto the exhaust manifolds. This would be good, because it is a cheap and easy fix.
