knocking?

knocking?

i have a 91 camaro 350 and just bought the moates datalogger when ever i revv up to i get 2 knocks and it retards me i just did a plug change all the plugs looked good all tan all gapped good i also changed my fuel filter still nothing over 3500 rpms i checked timing looks good 6*bdtc the only thing i can think is maybe i have to up the octane im only running 87 any ideas would be help ful

87? It's a performance car, not a Camry. :-) Spring for the 20c a gallon.

lol ok it just never did it before with the 87 im going to put a couple gallons of 100octane to see if its really pinging or if its a bad knock sensor

Should be fine with 91 or 92 octane, which ever your area has.

How many miles on the engine? I'm thinking it might be piston slap. This can happen if the engine has high milage and is worn out a bit.

Could be 149000 miles but how can I get rid of it? I get passed by civics =(

Unscrew the sensor from the block. Wrap the threads with way too much teflon tape, then reinstall it, but don't tighten it any more than just enough to keep it from falling out. This will desensitize it. Teflon goop in a bottle won't do, it has to be tape.
