Re: Correct plug wire routing
Hello Tarheel. I like the description of U're car. I, too, have black and gray Z w/ LG4 and T-5.I am in process of swapping 350 into it. I do not have a pict of factory wiring 4 plug wires, but I am planning to route them behind valve covers, close to block, under manifolds and to the plugs. My old motor has wire holders bolted under the manifolds that separate them and hold them away from the manifolds. I think it is a lot like the 'Vette.

Removing an 83 305 and installing a 90 center bolt valve cover 350. Because of budget and emissions, I am using stock manifolds that route above the spark plugs. If U run wires over valve cover they have to cross exhaust manifolds and AIR injection system also. May cause wires to burn.

Re: Correct plug wire routing
When I got my L69, they went straight down behind the heads, then under the exhaust manifold to each plug. There were factory looms bolted to the block to hold the wires away from the manifolds. They look like they were made of a coathanger-sized wire (the looms). I like this routing, looks cleaner. I did this on my 350 after I put headers on it, and it looks good.
