Re: TRIED TO
What I freakin' headache. I was thinking about the time I swapped steering columns on an S-10, I didn't know what year the replacement column was, and while all my electrical connectors plugged right in, it later turned out that different-color wires were in different spots. So, did you compare this on the 2 columns?

Re: TRIED TO
you have to have a key and a vats that are equal.
the resistor on the key has to match the vats on the steering column. that is located down below on the left hand side near the fuse block. it is a black rectangle. check the resistor on the key and buy the vats that matches it.
also the ecm will either tell the car to look for vats or not. if it says look for vats it reaches out to the black vats box and asks for the code, then it looks at the key. if they match - you get to run. if they dont you car will not start and you will have a 4 minute period in which nothing will happen, before you can try again.

the vats box matches the key i got them both from the same guy off ebay... the car wants to start but seems like the gas isnt getting in there and im gonna get anew battery and try it that way this batt is shot i put a resistor so the vats should be disabled now the only prob is when i put the key in the acc the security light comes on for about 3 secs
