EGR Valve Solenoid
My mechanic states that my egr valve and the egr solenoid are both bad. I agreed to the price last week. Today they call and told me Napa was out of stock and they could not locate another source.
They also stated that the solenoid was year specific for 1988 (my ride is a 88 IROCZ, 5.0, tpi). I have looked on the net for an hour and can't find one. If anyone has any comments on what they said, or a source for the solenoid, please help. My ride just isn't performing.
GM Part # 1997171
Delco part # 214-338

Re: EGR Valve Solenoid
These solenoids have all been discontinued from every part supplier I can locate as well, and every place is out of stock on them, even GM. Either they weren't popular parts or someone has been stockpiling them like no other.
If 1988 is year specific (I'm not sure on 88 only 90-92 TPI), you might have some luck at a GM or ACDelco parts dealer as they sell their old stock to be stockpiled by some place called Vintage Parts.
If not, you are going to have search eBay, here, craigslist, junkyards and any other source you can think of to try and track one of these down used or new, that is what I had to do.
