idle problems 406 tpi

my name is dustin i have a 1986 corvette the 350 went out and i had a 406 laying around.its an auto has 30lb injectors a comp cam rebuilt cast l98 heads steel 1.5 roller rockers jet adjustable fuel pressuer regulator heads and intake are ported and pollished its internaly ballanced 2.5 pipes back to resanator tips the only thing i left un touched was the distrubuter for now replaced plug wires.

i had to unplug the cold start injector and finaly got it to run but the idle has to be set at 1300 and still isnt smoth havent driven car but runs strong when given throtle. is the poor idle due to the large engine and outher parts wile still running the stock chip? any ideas how to improve this for the time being should i put the stock injectors in and see what happens. i am ordering everything from moates to emulate log and burn but it will be a while. plans are new heads nitrious pos twin turbo. any feed back appreciated.

Re: idle problems 406 tpi

It will improve a lot when you can start burning chips for it. Then you can start troubleshooting any other problems once you rule out the bad tune. Hang in there, the learning curve can be steep but once it clicks your engine is going to start running really great really quick. The only thing I can think of is make sure your fuel pump can handle the demands in the upper RPM ranges. What kind of cam in this 406?
