305 to 383 Question
I am planning on putting a 383 and tko 500 manual trans into my completely stock 83 Z28 ....we are using Engine build book and it says the engine, when properly tuned puts out 475hp and 460ftlbs...for now im not changing the rearend and i dont plan on running wider tires/slicks at least untill i get a better Axel/rearend/ect... anyway i was wondering if any u guys have done anything similar and could let me know if i need or should stiffin the unibody of the car ..its in pretty good shape with the exception of a little bit of surface rust around the wheel well....which i will fix but not paint .....cause i dig the whole sleeper ratrod look ....ill put some pics up when its done.
Thanks

Re: 305 to 383 Question
Of course you should put some subframe connectors on the car. The bolt-on styles seem to be easiest to work with, but should still be welded.

Re: 305 to 383 Question
I agree with the subframe connectors. They are really easy to put in if you have a welder. I got the ones that bolt in the back and weld in the front. It works really well. Im running a 383 with about the same power and havent had any problems. Even with my 275\60 R15 MT street ets. Good luck with the build. I dont have a manual trans though, i got a 700R4 and it breaks loose in third never had a problem with the rearend yet.
