rapping noise and my choke light stays on
today while sitting at a light idleing, my 84 Z28 started making a loud rapping sound under the hood and noticed my choke light came on on the dash. i immediatly thought that choke flaps were fliging wildly, but it all appeared normal. anyone have any suggestions on what that could have been and how i cant get the choke light off?
thanks.

What does the voltmeter say?
When the alternator doesn't put out more voltage than the battery, the choke light comes on. Makes sense, right???
The noise might be an alternator bearing gone bad. That just a wild guess, though, assuming the two events are tied to each other.

Re: rapping noise and my choke light stays on
i'll have to take a look at the voltmeter. the alternator still spins so wouldnt that mean that its still charging thus turning the light off? i'm not sure....
also, i had just tightened the alternator belt (made sure not to over tighten) before this happened, so i think your on to something.
