Ever done the Resistance in ECM ground circuit test?

Ever done the Resistance in ECM ground circuit test?

Did it yield any results?

Last thing I had done before it went funky on me was move my intake hose and MAF around,

Didn’t unplug it or anything.

Can’t get codes to flash and even the use of ALDL gets no data.

I am now shooting in the dark.

This does sound like a good shot.

There are several ground wires going to the ECM. It's unlikely that all of them have failed, but that being said; ground faults are often an ignored issue.
Find a wiring diagram for your car and see if you have power to the ECM (2 places, orange & pink/black wires). Does the SES lamp light at any time at all, like when you turn on the ignition, or if you disconnect the ECM? If not then check the gages fuse.

Yea, but the one that ties to the back of the head is the ground that counts.

come on now I wouldn't ask if I wasn't past the ECM and dumb SES light.

Why when looking up to buy a new ECM and found that service bulltin it starts to make sense.

Migth be getting somewhere

trace wires for the MAF to the MAF relay and its connector looks like crap, touch it just a little and the big brown wire going to it just fell out.

Re: Ever done the Resistance in ECM ground circuit test?

Any way to test a MAF?

Lst thing I had done was move it around some.

I hear they got go form looking at them funny.

tried it with it unplugged and runs just as bas on start up.
Bad idle and back fire out the intake.

But get it over 1500 rpm it will run and idle for a few mins, then stumbe out and die.

I think you need to look elsewhere. How's the vacuum at idle? How old are the plug wires? Distributor original?

There are not one, but three ground wires from the ECM going to two ring terminals on the engine, in addition to one wire being grounded in the dist.. So with 4 equal ground wires to three points, how'd you figure which one counts?

Gumby; the way you write things one can't help but wonder how much you've really checked.. You are holding back information and that certainly doesn't help us help you..
