heads for 400 sbc?

Transmission: 700R4,700R4
Axle/Gears: LSD,LSD
heads for 400 sbc?

i can get my hands on a 400 short block and am wondering what heads would be okay to slap on there for now..some that are readily available and perform decent that i can find for pretty cheap...and holes for power steering pump..any help will be great!!!!

A set of Vortec heads would be a good choice. Good bang for the buck there. Look for casting numbers, 12558062 or 10239906. About $600 for new ones at a dealer or through Summit or Jegs. If you've got some cash to blow...get a set of AFR's. Steam holes would probably need to be drilled in almost any head you buy.

Well, a good head for a 406 is not quite enough info, if it is a stock rebuild, then any stock 350 head will work fine just as long as you drill the steam holes.

if it is built, then vortecs are a good bang for the buck, but how about a little more info on the shortblock, and your budget, that way we can give you an educated answer.
