87 z28 idle

I have an 1987 305 carbureted z28 145000 miles on it. It was sitting for 2 years before i got it. When i start the car it idles at different RPM what can be my problem sometimes it idles at 1,000 then some times 2,500 and sometimes it stalls i changed the plugs wires and filters

could be a possibility of the choke sticking....that would be my guess....or could be the timing jumping around...but I would lean more towards choke......

I just found out that the plugs wires and filters were not changed my oldest son said he was going to change all of it but didn't
so i decided to change the plugs dist cap and rotor and the car wont start i what to punch something any ideas as my new problem im going

it ran before...but now not at all......did you get the firing order right on the car...it's 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2 ...start from ground level too....check for spark and fuel.....then go from there.....

LOL i had my wire the wrong way.
i cleaned my choke and still have the same problemjust wondering how can my timing jump and will like to know how to fix it. Last night it idle at 3500 and it didn't want to shut off and about 1hr later i had to keep my foot on the gas so it didn't stall
