okay so i got a 89 firbired formula... car was working fine..sometimes it would take 1-2 times to start but it worked... changed brake fluid... went for a ride came back, turned it off and now wont turn on.... i went under the car & manually started the car. it turns on perfectly fine but when i turn it off & try to start it from the ignition.. nothing. does not even try to crank over.

 

okay i just had this problem if u know everythign is all good. it could be the ignition switch that is ON top of the steering column just lower the steering column and replace it. u don't have to go and get a steering wheel puller b/c its not in the steering column. its on top of it. trust me been there done that this last weekend. check that first its like a 15 dollar part if that. make sure u get the one required for it like if u have tilt wheel tell them u have tilt if u don't then tell them u don't at the parts place and just reassemble it and adjust as the directions require.

 

i opened up the steering column and this little white wire was broken... it had been taped up... its connected to where the key goes in the ignition cylinder?? so i am gonna try to weld them together to see if that stays otherwise im gonna have to buy a new ignition... i put the little wire together with some pliers and tried starting it & it did. thanks so much for the advice & wish me luck... hopefully this works

 

Ah it must of been the vats wire. and ur welcome. yea if the vats not hooked up its a security device that won't let the car start unless its working. glad you found it.
