i bought the jasper 350
i bought the 350 jasper engine. i pulled several of the plugs and they looked good. the valve covers are rusted badly, but i might sandblast them. the block is fairly clean with a little light surface rust. i already started to clean it up. i would guess that the guy selling the engine was accurate in the mileage, all of the bolts are easily removed. including the exhaust manifold bolts. i have seen engines that had 100,000 miles in buffalo, ny area. this doesn't seem like one of them. i think that the valve covers were off the original engine that was in the van(engine was a replacement engine in a G20 van). i dont think jasper supplies new valve covers unless you buy them. unfortunately i didn't have a chance to hear it run. i did turn it over with a breaker bar and it seemed to have allot of compression. i hope i did well. im going to clean up the engine, make it look good, and then its going in my camaro. i did get the tbi unit with properly sized injectors. i have never done an engine swap, this is going to be an adventure. i hope my car will be corvette-like fast when im done with it. im also considering getting a stronger camshaft, but im not sure i should. might be better off leaving it stock. i really hope this works out. i dont really have the money to spend on a new crate engine. if this engine truely has 30,000 miles on it then it will almost be as good as a brand new engine. i want my car to be quick, im tired of the worn out 305. i dont want to be embarrassed by 4 cylinders anymore. i want a quick camaro.
