Sucking to much air

unfortunatly i only have a little 3.1L V6...lol.... but as soon as i get the money thats gone... nyways.... im haveing a problem keeping it running because the throttle body is sucking WAY to much air.... it will only consistantly run wen someone puts their hand over the mouth n regulates the air it sucks in that way....soooo.... if nyone has an idea wats goin on...id greatly appreciate it... thank you

Check out the IAC valve. Its workes like a controlled vacuum leak past the butterfly to keep the car running at idle and if it were to fail could cause what your describing.
