harmonic balance issue 1998 vortec motor
Hi. I've come into an issue as the last of my newly built motor is coming together. I ordered a chrome timing cover from summitracing.com that i'm using. The problem is that in an efi application, the crankshaft position sensor utilizes a metallic disk that goes in the stock timing cover and behind the harmonic balancer. There is not enough room for this discular shaped object that I no longer need due to my use of a carb. Not having this installed will put my harmonic balancer about .100"-.200" inch closer (estimate) to the motor. Is this going to throw my pulleys off or is there a way to solve this issue other than using the stock timing cover. Thanks.

You must use the vortec balancer with the reluctor ring
If you remove it (just slides off) then you must get a standard SBC balancer
There is .125" difference between the two
