Quick distributor question
Hey guys,
I'm updating my ignition system with new wires, cap and rotor. My question is how to get the rotor off. As I understand it, I just need to pull straight up and it should come off. I know some models have 2 bolts but I don't believe mine do. At any rate, its a 91 formula 305 and no matter how hard I pull, I can't get that rotor off.
Any responses would be great, I have it all wired up, just need to get the new rotor and cap on.
Thanks!

Re: Quick distributor question
two screws around the outside of the rotor. Should be pretty short. Pop those off and it'll flop right off.

Re: Quick distributor question
There are no screws on the plastic rotor. The guy at the autoparts store thought it would pull right off. Tried again, still no luck.

Re: Quick distributor question
Depends. The later CC HEIs dont have any screws retaining the rotor. Just a press-on affair. They can be pretty tough to remove after they have a chance to get rusted in place from water and corrosion. Try gently heating up the plastic base of the rotor. It may help free it up. If worse comes to worse, you can always use a chisle to crack it to take it off, just be sure you dont hit the shaft underneath and damage it.

Thanks for the responses guys.
I ended up cutting off the top part, driving a nail into the plastic collar to loosen the grip and then using a hammer to pry it off. Not a fun job.
