condensation or something more serious?

I got white smoke on startup. Its more on cold days then on warmdays. I can feel some moisture in the tailpipes with my finger. The smoke and the moisture goes away complete when the engine starts to get warm ( after around 1 min when its cold outside ). I got no visual water on the oilstick or on the plugs or any sign of water under the vavlecovers.. No loss of coolant, or its so little that I havent noticed it ( its not my daily driver ).

I got no smoke during WOT or any other driving condition.
What else can I check?

Does it sounds as condensation or someting more serious?

THanks

Re: condensatio or something more serious?

Sounds normal to me. If the oil doesn't turn milky it's probably OK.

Re: condensatio or something more serious?

Update.

2 things that leads me toward the "condenstation" theory.
It only seems to happend if I let the car stay outside on a cold night. The day after I always get some white smoke at startup, this goes away after 2min, when the engine gets warm.
If I let the car stay in the sun on a hot day. I never get this smoke..

Wierd..

Re: condensation or something more serious?

Condensation out the tailpipe is a byproduct of combustion. Even a warm engine should emit some condensation. Mild steel exhaust systems will always rust out. Aluminized exhaust lasts longer. Stainless doesn't rust but also costs the most.

If the oil doesn't become milky, I wouldn't worry about it.

You can always get your cooling system pressure tested. If the pressure drops over a period of time like an hour, there may be a small internal leak.

Re: condensation or something more serious?

Thanks for the answer.
The coolant system keeps the pressure a pretty long time even after I shut down the engine. I can feel that If I try to unscrew the cap. Dont know if that is a good sign or not.

One thing that scared me at first whas that I could hear a "drip"/"pour" sound inside the engine, after I shut it off for a few sec. Ofcourse my first thought was a internal waterleak, from a broken intake or headgasget. But I guess I was just hearing the oil drip back down into the pan.

Well the fact is I dont loose any coolant, and the oil and plugs looks clean.
