Did the 305's all have a rev limiter?

I was out playing w/ my iroc z which has a lg4. I hit the redline and went a little past it according to the factory tach. I let up on the gas before any rev limiter took over. I just want to know if there is a rev lim, and at what rpm does it work?

The LG4 rev limiter is known as "valve springs".

Re: Did the 305's all have a rev limiter?

When I first got mine, the rev limiter was the 4 flat lobes on the camshaft Would hardly go past 3,000 rpm.

Re: Did the 305's all have a rev limiter?

ECM limits them to 10.XXX RPM but AFAIK valve spring will limit your engine on usage if you will go over 7,5k RPM

best regards

Re: Did the 305's all have a rev limiter?

7000 revs seems close to the self destruct level. I don't think this engine has one. I thought anything past redline is bad news.
