igition switch

well, car wouldnt start today, so changed the starter. still didnt start. got told it might be the ignition switch. got three questions:
1: where is the damn thing!?!?!? looked all under the dash and couldnt find it
2: did i get the right thing? got borg warner PN CS142, has a bunch of prongs on one side, and is blue, black, and steel.
3: any other things, besides the battery-starter wire, that yal think it might be?

Sounds about right...

Look at the steering column where it goes through the firewall. On top of it, about 6" from the firewall, you'll find the ignition switch. They don't go bad much, but it's not impossible that it could be your problem. That would depend on what it's doing.

What are the symptoms? Does the starter do anything at all?

You'll need to drop the steering column, there's a brace running across it you unbolt and let it down gently. This will make the switch change much easier, but still a bit if a pain being upside down under the dash with your head against the brake pedal.

I don't know, I was never able to get my cable out following the directions either, and its not like there is a lot of room to really examine the thing.

The inhibitor is held on the switch by a couple of little bolts, I took them out and used an ignition switch for a manual car. The manual switch is the same as the auto but costs $30+ less because it doesn't come with the inhibitor, but it does have the holes for the screws that hold it on. I installed the switch and put my inhibitor on it.

That has nothing to do with the computer, every auto vehicle has one of those devices.
