new computer doesnt help, nothing indicates a problem but wont run
I have a 1992 3.1 v6 camaro RS, it ran like a champ until last week when it just died on me in a parking lot. the car sputtered out and stopped. I replaced the computer and checked a number of things. The car would "lope" before i replaced the computer. it would barely run at about 500rpm. I had a proffesional mechanic check it out with the old computer in it and he found a few soft code but told me that they were only thier becasue the car couldn't idle. So he had me buy a computer, i just put it in an hour ago but now when i start it it just fires for a second and dies. I am really at a loss here now.
ANY help would greatly appeciated.

it can only be one of 3 things.
the engine is shot - but you said it was running - but im a little concerned about the over 500 rmps comments. did you suck a valve?
the second and third problems are gas or spark - meaning your electrical system.
have you dumped the oem memory? you can do it without any special tools, except a paperclip.
reply if you need sites for how and what the codes mean.

Re: new computer doesnt help, nothing indicates a problem but wont run
like i said, i put a brand new computer in it today, i also just checked the fuel filter, it was good looked like it was recently replaced. when my car first died on me it started to run for less lenghts of time at 500rpm. now it will start but die immediatly afterwards. I am going to have the code reader hooked soon but i do not have one and i cant drive my car up to the auto parts store so i have to wait on my friend. would the fuel pump be responcible. what i just recently discovered with the new computer the car actually starts up and as soon as it gets to like 1100 rpm it runs for a slip second and cuts off. which is different from before, where it would run at 500rpm for a long time. any ideas?

It turned out that all I had to do after replacing the ECM was to get it too run and allow it to set itself's idle, or idle relearn procedure. It may help someone who replaces thier ecm and the car dont run for more than a second.

Re: new computer doesnt help, nothing indicates a problem but wont run
yahh actually after i posted that i decided to go to the auto parts store for some extra oil and i died on me on the way thier. I can say that the car will run perfectly until it heats up to aproxiamitly 200 degrees. does that number remind anyone of anything, maybe the motor is adjustes it self or want to turn a choke on or off. what ever is suppose to happen at 200 degrees makes the car die. So i waited until it cooled all the way down and drove home. Any ideas whats wrong, i realy hoped i could wait a couple of weeks to drop in a 350 becuase i dont really have the money for it right now. Any help will be apreciated.

what do you mean by" chip in the key"? I checked the oil pressure and it at perfect 43 lbs. My car seems to have no exact pattern of when it will run. most of the time it will start up but then die right after or fire up and run perfect for 15 minutes. I am loosing my patients with this car, i am gonna do one more thing though. A friend of mine is comming over this weekend and hes gonna hooked his diagnostic computer up to it and see what it says. If i am still lost that V6 is gonna get ripped out, burned and replaced whit a carbed 350 V8. I dont have alll summer to waist with this car. Ive tried so many things and gotten no where.

Would have nothing to do with chip in key - that's VATS - bad VATS = NO START AT ALL! Ignition module - try that. It's in the distributor, under the rotor button and plate.
