What Did I do Wrong?
With my car back on the road making sure things are running up to speed after ten years of no action, I made the following modifications:
Installed 1 3/4" SLP headers to a 3" Cat.
Installed a Dual snorkle intake off an L69 engine
New MSD 90 degree wires to clear the headers
New MSD coil, cap, and rotor
NGK Platinum plugs
Installed a 180 degree thermostat
Installed a 200 degree Hypertech fan switch
K&N Air Filter
New AC Delco filters for the purge canister, oil breather filter, fuel filter, even the brake booster filter unit
Fresh mobil 1 15w50 and K&N Oil Filter
Adapted a heat stove for headers for the thermac
Replaced all the vacuum hoses on the car.
Now here is the problem. I accelerate gradually and the car runs fine. Then on a nice stretch of road, I floor it and the car goes like banshee for about 100 feet or so but then it wants stop. No idiot lights come on or nothing.

Re: What Did I do Wrong?
Sounds like you have carb issues. Sitting ten years is a long time for a carb thats not used. If there was any old gas in it for that long, it may have gummed it up some.

Well I did get the old gas out and did clean out the lines etc. Filled it up with Shell super unleaded and hit the freeway. I cleaned out the gunk from the carb with carb cleaner and the flaps work great, all linkage has been lubed. Hell, my car even passed the smog with no problems.

Read some other threads on here regarding the TV cable. Going to replace it and see if that will fix my problem. Seems like if from the same descriptions of others having the same problem as I am.

Try adjusting the TV cable before going with new. It could simply be out of adjustment, especially from sitting for so long then being driven abruptly.
