How drivable as daily driver?
How drivable as daily driver?
I have a chance to replace a 305 CI in my 1982 El Camino with this newly rebuilt NON-LT/LS. The cam is my concern and overall combination of other parts.
350 bored 30 over
4 bolt (do not know year)
TRW pistons (do not know anything else)
10/10 crank
274/480 Crane cam (do not know PN/model)
194/150 valve – heads “rebuilt” and not vortec
600 cfm Edelbrock
Intake – Edelbrock performer
other info ...
Headers
Dual exhaust
Auto trans (stock converter)
High rear (in 2.70's - do not know exact number)
Question: How drivable with the following be as a daily driver compared to a stock 350 CI. I was wondering if the cam is suitable.
Daily drive is 40 mile round trip (morning – hardly any stop and go, evening – stop and go) ?
Thanks so much for your input!!!!

cam is a little big for a every day driver i think, as far as i can tell the power band for it is 2,200 to 6,400 rpm. as long as it runs well, stops good and all that stuff i would go for it. just put in some zink additive when you change the oil so you dont wipe the cam.

I've driven my SB2.2 on the street. Streetable is relative. Yours shouldn't be too bad. Cam might be a touch too big, go to a 26x cam, or so. It would be happier on a stock convertor. If they're stock heads: a.) that's a bit much lift for stock castings without different valve train equipment or machining the guide bosses. b.) what casting number?
