Need Part ID Help

This part fell to the floor when I removed the alternator/power steering pump bracket from my '89 IROC, 5.0 TPI. I also have the same part left from my '92 Z-28. I took it to my local Cevy dealership and the parts manager brought up every diagram of this area he could find with no result. I have a factory '89 Camaro Service Manual and I can't find it in there.

I would really appreciat any help with what it is, where it attatches, and/or what it does.

It looks slightly different on my 1990 & 1992 RS TBI cars, but it attaches at the top of the bracket you took off, and the curved portion acts as a protector for the radiator hose in the event that the serp belt breaks - if that makes sense. The serp belt kinda follows the curve on it's way from the alternator to the idler pulley.

Yes! Now I remember...not from my IROC, but when I took the same part off my '92 Z. I still have the part from my other Z. I though they look pretty similar.
I can't tell ya how much I appreciate your reply. Shortly after I finished my '92 I lost in due to an engine fire that started in that same area. I was worried that this part might have had something to do with it. Whew!!
Actually, I'm pretty sure the fire was caused by a fuel line link.
