Re: wont start

I dunno if you want to get crazy with you timing but what I did one time, was set the rotor pointing to the no.1 piston when it was at tdc and adjusted from there until it ran. after that, you could dial it in. I'm sure this isn't the way that everyone else would suggest, but that's just how I did it and I thought I'd share. Did you make sure that you're getting ignition voltage before you mess with the timing?

Re: wont start

ok so i get the engine to 0 degrees tdc and the pointer was point 180 degrees away from where it was spose to so i set it to cylinder 1 at 0 degrees tried to start and nothing i did this about 3 times and it keeps going to 180 degrees backwards from cylinder 1 so im curious if that tan and black wire has to be unplugged to do that?

Re: wont start

How exactly did you get it on no. 1 cylinder? If the rotor is pointed to the cylinder when it's all the way up you're good. if you're still having a problem starting it, then there's more troubleshooting to be done.

Re: wont start

ok so i got it all figured out and got it running and driving but i think the timing is off a little when its in drive or reverse it wants to stall if i stop so what way do you think the timing has to go?and the tan/black wire has to be unplugged while cars running and turning cap to time it rite?

Re: wont start

Yeah, Sometimes they like a degree or two from what the books say but just keep adjusting until the throttle response is practically immediate.
