Car won't start / Oil pressure sending unit question

ok my car won't start I just replaced the head gaskets on the car.

The oil pressure sending unit coming off of the distributor isn't plugged in
and i'm not sure if it was when the car was running.
but i can't find where it plugs into. idk even know if it's there.

the just of this topic is 3 things.
1. does the oil pressure sending unit need to be plugged in.
2. where exactly does it plug in.
3. if neither of those are a problem what could cause my car to not start after the head gasket replacement.

yes it does need to be plugged in as it is what supplies power to the fuel pump. if the pump don't run, you get no gas, which means no run.

re: Car won't start / Oil pressure sending unit question

The oil pressure sending unit has nothing to do with the fuel pumps primary power circuit. It's a backup to the fuel pump relay - should the relay fail during engine operation, the fuel pump will continue to power the pump given oil pressure.

Most common places for it to go are right above the oil filter or rear china wall.

Find out what the car isn't getting. Fuel, spark, air, and compression are the 4 things required for operation. Chances are it's one of the first 2 you're missing. Find out which. I would start with making sure you have the timing set correctly.

alright well see thats the thing The sending unit only stretches so far and there's not a single plug or relay near it to be plugged into i'm feeling kind of completely ****ed. cause it has fuel, and I can hear the fuel pump kick on every time i turn the key. it turns over just fine it just won't start up. idk what to do at all.

Check to see if you have spark. Did you correctly set the timing upon re-assembling the engine?
