e85 fuel system
i wasnt sure on where to post this but i recently converted my motor to e85 but now im wondering about the rest of the fuel system. i know my fuel pump is ok but what about fuel lines and fuel tank. i know e85 absorbs a small amount of water and could slowly start eating away at the tank the lines and any rubber lines in a fuel system and i started thinking about maybe a plastic tank and i wasnt sure about the fuel line aspect of it just looking for some ideas any help would be appreciated thanks

FUELISH IDEA
The water absorbing property of alky in the fuel is actually a positive.
It won’t act like a magnate to absorb water from the atmosphere but will evenly disperse water that might have been in your fuel system from previous problems.
This way it will get out any old water.
The brief exposure won’t cause any fuel line water related problems.

If People Drove Any Slower They’d Be Going BackwardsFog lights are not driving lights. They look dorky. Turn em off slow pokes.
How bout those dorks too scared to drive without headlights on in the daytime!

Nope. Unless you’re pumping in water with each thankful.

I've been using E85 in the '57 since the start of the '06 racing season. It's the original 1957 gas tank. The pick-up unit was replaced in 1998 (replaced the original 5/16" unit with a stock-style 3/8" unit). The fuel line is aluminum. I was using a Carter mechanical but switched to an Aeromotive electric last year.
Unless the car sits for extended time (mine does over the winter), you don't need to worry about the system. The 3rd gen/emissions-era non-vented system is better suited for E85 than the vented '57 tank. But, you really don't need to worry about fuel system materials.
There is a thread on the Carburetor forum that talks about all this stuff.
