Help me pick a cam "goodwrench 350"

I want to put a cam in my 89 rs. It has a "goodwrench" 350 crate motor. Im not sure if it is the 260 or 290 hp version i got it used. It is mated to a thm350 and the rear is a open 3.73. The car will be mostly a street car and maybe Ill make a trip to the strip once in a while. I am on a tight budget so im looking at summit brand cams. I was thinking the SUM-K1105 would be a good choice but i don't know for sure if it will work with the stock valve springs and such in my motor or if i have enough compression to run that size of cam. Any suggestions?

Re: Help me pick a cam "goodwrench 350"

I can't remember if thats a roller cam engine, but if it is, I'd suggest an LT1 or LT4 cam. They are a pretty good match for the heads and valvetrain that are on that engine. Shouldn't have any clearance issues, and its a fairly easy cam to tune an engine for - either EFI or carb'd. Nice sounding cam with a nice street powerband (idle-5000 or so) with all its meaty torque between 1800-3500.

Either of those crates come with low compression (8.5:1ish) and flat tappet cams.

1103 is about as large as I would go for your platform.

Re: Help me pick a cam "goodwrench 350"

Thanks for the help. Yes it is a low comp non-roller motor. I think I will go with the 1103 if i get some extra cash or I might just hold of until I get a better set of heads latter on.
