305 FI woes

Ok ive got an 86 IROC 305 FI.... my issue is... well the car runs and drives great... no hesitation, no crap idle or anything, HOWEVER when i get on it the dipstick keeps popping out which leads me to believe i have excessive blowby/ crankcase pressure...PCV system is fine... My question is what is the CHEAPEST way of addressing this problem... I just cant condone repairing an engine of this age i feel that it would be more cost effective to just replace it... so would a direct replacement 305 FI long block be the cheapest solution or 350 or what.... im pretty good with cars but engine replacement is a whole nother ballgame to me...lol.... help me please i know yall have input...

There is a place here called factory engine exchange who will charge 2100 installed for a 305 long block.... is that a good price or not...

Re: 305 FI woes

I think there is a hardened rubber insert in the dipstick tube, it may be missing.
