So i just got a 88 iroc 350, and had to do some "safety" work to it before i drove it. This weekend i drove it for the first time (i didnt test drive it due to it not being reg). I had my buddy in the car (showing off) and got on it hard, and next thing i knew i had the RPM need pinned all the way to the left (maxed out). i would have thought that these cars have a rev limiter where once you hit the redline, it cuts the gas to the engine. I will never rev that high again, but want to know if there was a limiter on these cars.

 

No rev limiter. You'll be lucky if nothing was damaged.

There is a rev limiter but it's probably set ~10000 in the prom. Essentially disabled.
