stock HEI distributor coil

Axle/Gears: 3-23 posi with 4 wheel discs
stock HEI distributor coil

hi, i was wondering how much volts does a stock GM HEI distributor coil produce?..is it 30000 volts?....i heard some people say to put in a hi-power coil that produces 50000 volts..any advantages to this?

The stock GM coil is more than adequate, but they do sometimes fail with age. I put a high performance one on my L98, but I don't notice any difference.
