1991 Firebird A/C not working
Hello all. I have 1991 Firebird that a rat had been living in( under the hood ) for about a year before I got it. I THINK I got all the wires, belts, hoses, etc back together. Now the A/C won't come on. I am getting no voltage at the compressor clutch. I am getting 12 volts at the power steering switch, I tried jumpering the connector that goes to the power steering switch, but still nothing on the A/C clutch. I get no power at the accumulator, on that switch either. I have a Chilton book to go by, and it is pretty helpful. Where is the A/C high pressure switch? Is that the one in the compressor itself? Also, where is the pressure cycling switch? Thanks in advance guys!
Re: 1991 Firebird A/C not working
Did you try jumping out the low pressure switch? That switch opens up, when the pressure gets too low. Is it possible its low on charge, or maybe the critter chewed on those two wires?
Re: 1991 Firebird A/C not working
I got it going. The "critter" ( I have more colorful names for it ) did chew that wire in 2 also. Had to dig pretty far into the firewall to find it. It was a little low on Freon also, topped that off and now she is cool as a cucumber!! Thanks anyway, that was a good idea.
