Hi guys. I just bought an 86 Sport Coupe for a whopping $500 and the check engine light is on (the car runs and drives fine, 2.8v6 BTW). I understand the paper clip thing. But, how do you read the codes, I know the flash/pause sequence is given for code 12 but I can't find anything for the other codes and there's no info in my haynes manual about it. So how do ya read em!

Huh? My haynes manual isn't numbered that way. The only info given is on page 6-3 (no normal numbers) I believe. But it only gives code definitions, not the actual code sequence.

Chiltons is different as is Helms.

Ok, I finally got my car back from the tranny shop and now I can pull the code. The only code I'm getting is: flash, flash, flash, pause, flash, flash, flash, flash. So three flashes, a pause, and four flashes. Can anyone please tell me what trouble code this is? I'm assuming it has something to do with fuel/air cause the car is idling horribly.

How to read codes and the codes themselves are there.

Yours is flashing 34 - 3 flashes, pause, 4 flashes = 34
