Hello All!!

Check out in the Interior Thread under the stickys Seat Belt Recall, posts #425, and #441 in the sticky!!

It gives all the info that you require, look at the attached PDF on the recall, and you will see that all Camaros/Firebirds 1984 -1990 are recalled for this seat belt button problem!!

The best way to fix this, is to do it yourself!!

Spend approx $10.00 to get the button kit, and be done with it!!!

P.S. If in doubt as to whether your car was done, get a kit, and fix it!!!

If your seat belts don't retract, see the FAQ board, and look for the thread 1987 Camaro Z-28 Seat Belt Repair, the "fix"!!

If your seat belt receivers plastic covers are broken, you need new ones, have fun searching, they are out there, but getting harder to find every day!!

Re: CALLING ALL 84'-90' FIREBIRDS/CAMAROS (SAFETY RECALL STILL IN EFFECT)

Thanks man, I'm taking my car to the dealership this week coming up. I recently bought the passenger side receiver for my car for a small price. The passenger side receiver was cracked and the rear passenger wasn't staying buckled. I bought my car about a year ago and didn't know GM had these recalls. I just rebuilt a 350 and dropped it in there. New rods, bearings, roller cam, lifters, rocker arms, Engle Cam, Holley 570cfm Street avenger elec. choke, Edlebrock performer intake, Headmen Shorty headers, MSD wires, new MSD distributor, new headlights, brand new fuse box, I aslo changed the transmission filter, new tie rod and sway bar bushings. Detroit locker for posi rear end, and I put new BF Goodrich white letters on it. I also bought a 3 inch fiberglass cowl induction hood through summit down in Georgia. My car is an 84 z28 and has 108,000 miles. I just turned 17 back in October and hopefully Ill have the car finished by my 2nd year in Tech. I just joined this forum and once I figure out everything, Ill put up some pics of it. Its been mostly garage kept its whole life so the interior is in very good shape considering the years this car has on it. Thank you for your post and have a nice day
Chris

I tried that, i told them i was going to sue them because this is my life they are playing with, and they took it on record and never bothered to call back. Well, the morons in india don't care because it's not their company. So the paki guy just said okay and i hung up. I even have the original recall notice from pontiac and they keep telling me there was no recall. What a bunch of ****ing liars.

Im guessing since the start of this was in 09 they wont honor this anymore. Most of my belt buckles dont work.

I guess we need to keep in mind the GM that built our cars and issued the recall for this foul up - no longer exists. All that stuff is covered by Liquidation Motors now, and I doubt that even exists at this point. Fixing anything under previous recalls would be done as a courtesy by the dealer, pretty unlikely for that to happen either.

That's unacceptable on my part. I don't believe in letting GM get away with that. I want my free recall replacement. I'm going to call the attorney general and consumer affairs. If you guys want the recall i suggest you call too. I'm sure enough noise will make them look up the records and eventually honor the request.

Not true, when I worked a service writer at a Buick dealer we did the engine fire recalls on the Buick 3.8's all the time and that recall has been around for over a decade now. I remember looking up the VIN on the GTA when I was there and saw the recall. ANY GM dealer can run a VIS with the last 8 digits of the VIN...it'll easily come up.

The gm dealers by me are run by foreigners so they don't know how to look up the vin #.... Instead I faxed them over the recall notice, etc, and they called pontiac and pontaic said **** the recall we are not doing it. So, I went around in circles over the summer
