L69 Cam Selection
I have a 83 l69. I heard it received a larger than stock 305 cam, flat-tops with around 9.5:1 compression. The motor is pretty much stock its a 5 speed with 3.73 gears. It still has all smog equipment with 3in cat-back. Any cam suggestions? i want the most power i can get out of my current setup
Lope would be a +

I think the comp cam XE256H would be a great choice,or maybe an XE262H
if you wanted something a little wilder.I really do think that you should go to
comp cams web site and down load camquest 6.It really does answer all your questions.

Re: L69 Cam Selection
I can give a better rec. based on experience. I don't have the pn, but here're the specs: hydraulic roller, 212/218 duration, 112 lobe sep., .488/.495 lift. You'll need to use a set of "plus fifty" locks and stay with 1.5:1 rockers if you don't want to remove the heads for machining. You can go bigger with a custom tune, but this will work with your stock tune. It won't be great below 1500 rpm, but it'll be great to 6000. Find springs that'll give you 85-90 psi at 1.750"
