Pretty specific EGR / Engine question
Here's my situation.
My automatic 1989 Camaro RS 305TBI was stalling on me. It would just shut off when the engine went down to idle, often at busy intersections. I checked the codes and got 32. My diagnosis was the EGR valve was sticking open and leaning out the fuel.
I did my research on these boards, and decided to block it off (that a new one was 80 bucks tipped the scales a bit, too). In addition the switch that activates the vacuum line is disconnected, but still in there.
Now, however, for a few minutes after start up, my idle is really rough, and if the car isnt moving the RPM just drops until it stalls, unless I kick it into neutral and give it gas. This problem also shows up every now and then for seemingly no reason at all. RPM wants to drop, engine sputters, even stalling while Im driving, which tapping the accelerator fixes. All my lights flicker, though, which is tons of fun.
My question is... How do I fix this? Is my ECM confusing my engine enough to cause this because my EGR valve isnt there? Or is this another problem altogether, like fuel delivery?
Thanks

Re: Pretty specific EGR / Engine question
Removing the EGR can cause problems if its not disabled in the computer as well, but its usually not functioning at idle, so having it blocked shouldn't cause a problem like that. Did you plug the vacuum port when you disconnected the EGR vacuum hose?
