Car does not start at all.

I have a 1988 GTA Firebird Trans Am. When i turn the ignition the headlights and dashboard lights work just fine but when i turn it all the way to turn it on it does nothing. NOTHING at all. No clicks or nothing. The security light is on. Im new to all this, if you can help me i woul really appreciate it. It was running just fine until that one day. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance!

Re: Car does not start at all.

First check to see if the battery terminals are secure to the wires (do the dash lights flicker when you go to hit the starter?). If they are, and considering how you mentioned the "security" light, the starter immobilizer might be on the fritz and kicking in. Does your ignition key have that little black square on it? Did you ever make copies of it? That's as far as I can go but it's a good place to start.

I don't believe 88's had vats. At least neither of mine did.
Make sure you're getting 12 volts to your starter.

Oh - they might not of had VATS. I always have in my head that 88 would be same as 90, since I had a 90 TBI and I know they had TBI in 88 as well.

I should know better - engineers change something every year so that they are always working and thus get to keep their jobs
