sputer problem

I have an 87 camaro that was a 305tpi automatic swapped to a 350 carb t-5 trans. If i go down back roads or interstate about 55-65 its ok but if i go down the interstate doing 70-75 after about 8 miles the car sputters it will take off for second then start sputtering and jerking around for a second and the take off for a second and sputter again but as soon as i stop and restart moving it'll act fine for a few miles and the start sputtering again anyone that can help me please pm me and let me know what you think it could be thanks

Re: sputer problem

sounds like perhaps you have a bit of a tuning issue specifically running alittle rich. Theres 3 fueling circuits in a carb. the idle, primaries, and the secondaries. It sounds like you may want to check out the secondaries as there only open when theres enough vacuum to open them which could explain why it happens at a higher speed.

Re: sputer problem

There's no harm in checking the adjustment i suppose. I dont really think it is the adjustment because if it was that far out that it would cause a running issue it would seem to me it would be ticking or making some sort of noise. What kind of carb are you running and whats the specs of your build?
