I have a new Edelbrock performer intake for "up to 86" heads but I have "87 up swirl port" heads. question is can I modify this manifold to fit earlier heads? the only difference I can see is the bolt holes on eather side of the heat riser, they look like they are slightly higher and at a different angle then the heads. I got this manifold cheap so I dont mind cutting on it. thanks for any help.

All it takes is a little elongation of the bolt-holes and some silicon. You might also come up with some form of tappered spacer to make the bolt mate up to the manifold better.

I did this to a Performer RPM I had laying around and tossed it on the 350 TBI in my van.

That what I wanted to hear, I picked up the manifold off of Craiglist for $50.00, brand new in the box with all the paperwork.

I've done this, with a hacksaw, a file, a good assortment of bolts, washers, and wrenches. Not ideal, but not a problem, either. If you want to copy this, start with the hacksaw, what to do with it should be obvious. Then use the file to create flats perpendicular to the new angle of the bolts, otherwise you'll just bend the bolts when you try to tighten them. And using WD40 helps keep the file from getting clogged.
